Nobody enjoys moving to a new home. With so much to do, and often little time to do it in, it’s no wonder that moving is known to be one of the most stressful things a person can do. If you’re preparing for your house removals and you’re unsure of what you need to do to ensure that you have the speedy and efficient move that you deserve, you don’t need to look any further. Here’s a list of what you need for a successful move!
1) Your plan.
Whether you’re moving from a studio apartment or a four bedroom house, you’re still going to benefit from having a concise and well-thought-out plan. Sit down and make a list of all of the jobs that need completing before moving day. Think about hiring a removals company, packing up your home, purchasing any supplies, changing your address at the Post Office and any other jobs that might get forgotten about. Making a list early on in the moving process gives you time to add to it when you remember something you might have forgotten, and once you have a complete list you can begin to find the time in your schedule to get everything done. A planned move is a successful move, so don’t forget this very important tip!
2) Packing supplies.
When you have a plan in place, it’s time to start looking for moving boxes, removals supplies and packing materials. Lots of people choose to buy new boxes, but you can use second-hand ones that have been sourced for free from your local shops – just make sure there are no signs of wear and tear and that you reinforce them with packing tape. If you’re moving lots of fragile items, however, you might want to invest in foam packing peanuts, foam sheets or bubble wrap. If you don’t want to spend money on supplies like this, then why not try using items from your home? Vases and lamps can be wrapped in towels and sheets to keep them safe, while your kitchen plates and cutlery can be wrapped in newspaper. Some newspaper print could rub off on lighter-coloured items, so be wary of this if using it to pack your items.
3) Experienced movers.
Hiring a removals company is one of the best ways to get help and support on moving day. There are lots of removals services that could benefit you, from man with a van hire, furniture removals assistance, removals and storage help and professional movers, if you have any qualms about the big day then a moving company could help you. Speak to people that you know for recommendations of companies, or look online for removals services in your area.
4) Essentials bags and boxes.
No matter where your relocation may be taking you, there are going to be many essential items that you might need access to straight away. From toilet paper to mobile phone chargers, there are many things that your family won’t want to have to search for once in your new home. Pack up a few essential boxes, filled with the items you’ll need for the first day and night in your new property. Doing this will save you from having to unpack everything just to find one item, and will ensure that you can unpack properly and at your own pace.
